Preview of the next couple of weeks at the club:

Thursday 9th May ‘Presentation Night’ – It’s our club’s ‘end of season presentation night’, this year it’s being held at Guisborough Cricket Club. Everyone is welcome (Including family & Friends) to come along to our social evening, the club bar will be open too. Please see Aileen for your tickets as soon as possible, £5 per person including buffet.

WORKSHOP – 16th May 1930hrs to 21000hrs. Methodist Church Hall, Guisborough.

Members who are keen to expand their camera knowledge and move off ‘auto’ onto ‘semi-auto’ and maybe some ‘manual’, then this workshop is for you. Brian Collett and Bob Norton will run a workshop dedicated to getting of ‘auto’ for GPG members on the 16th May. As this workshop is outside of the usual Club programme we have to make a small charge (£5) per member to cover additional hall costs. The Workshop will cover the basics of:

Exposure Triangle and understanding Histograms.
Using Exposure compensation
Setting up Auto ISO
Exposing for the Highlights
Using camera ‘Live View’ when shooting with flash
Practical session on a fixed lighting studio set (see example image above).
Q&A Session

Apart from your camera, a tripod will be most useful, including your camera manual. Flashgun if you have one. There will be a short break and you may wish to bring some refreshment with you. Please respond via email to nortongpg@gmail.com if you want to reserve a place. Moving forward we may, depending on member support, run other workshops. As the proverb says, ‘every day is a school day’. I should know as I move from a lifetime of manual camera operation to semi-auto (Av).

Visitors are more than welcome to attend.

Following an invitation GPG have recently visited ‘Guisborough Theatre Company’ (amateur dramatic group) . . . . . Members of GPG took photos of their ‘Dracula a Comedy of Terrors’ dress rehearsal at their venue.

The GTC group where so happy with the provided photos they helped our club out when some of their members returned their appreciation, they visited & posed for a recent GPG Portrait night. In conclusion GPG members get to practice with their cameras & Guisborough Theatre Company receive a collection of great images.

We would love to hear from you or why not pop along & pay us a visit. We meet on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm during our season which runs from September to the end of May. The meetings are held at the Guisborough Methodist Church Hall, pleasant surroundings with a large lecture room and free car parking out the front of the hall on Westgate.
